Building community and hospitality in a brand

My biggest marketing project has been working with Cala Coffee. Over the last year and a half, I have worked with every touchpoint of the company- Social media management, wholesale marketing, roasting, website/selling, seasonal promotions, customer experience, events planning, etc. What started as a love for serving others through coffee kickstarted my passion for marketing and creativity.

My work and growth

Social media growth

Since working with Cala’s social media, my team and I have grown our following over 40%; from just under 10K to our current following of 14.2K. Through managing photoshoots, content creation, trends, events, and promotions, we have established a strong following. The most common reaction when I tell people I run Cala’s marketing, is “Y’all’s instagram is so fun!”.

multi-media promotions

Cala’s brand goes far further than just social media. I’ve created content and promoted in any form you can think of- from emails, website and blogs, podcast, all the way to newspapers, subscriptions, and even lottery style scratch-offs. I love finding creative and non-conventional ways to add to our brand’s personality.

Product development

Because of my knowledge and passion for coffee, I have gotten to work with my team in creating new products. I have worked with everything from roasting and cupping, to product photography, labeling, and promoting the new releases in the roastery

Roasting

My hobby and passion for roasting was the catalyst for my career at Cala. I began home roasting with my Dad when I was 19. After college, Cala invited me to learn roasting at a higher capacity, and I fell in love with the industry- not only for the opportunity for hospitality and serving others, but also because of my fascination of the product.

In my time at Cala, I have gotten to travel to origin and see coffee farms, as well as collaborate with small Birmingham businesses that serve our coffee.
